April 2018 Changes to the Health Plan

Effective April 1, 2018, the Alliance Health Plan will have two levels of medical benefits. Alliance will continue to provide a benefit level that gives you and your family 100% coverage for most services. This benefit level will be called “Alliance Coal Direct” instead of "In-Network Plus." The former PPO and Out-of-Network benefit levels will be replaced by a new “Non-Direct” benefit level.

What’s Changing flier (SMM): Brief summary of the benefit changes (one-page “Summary of Material Modifications” or “SMM”)

Summary of Benefits & Coverage (SBC): Six-page booklet with a specific format required by law, to enable members to compare benefit plan features with other health care coverage that may be available to them outside Alliance

Medical Plan Highlights brochure: Overview of how the benefit plan will work after 4/1/18; this is an update to the brochure originally distributed to employees in early 2017
